FAT TAILED GECKO

Mobirise

From Senegal to Cameroon, African-tailed geckos were found in West Africa. Their habitat is dry and arid, although they spend most of their time in a dark and humid hiding place. In captivity, it is important to provide these geckos with humidity that mimics these conditions. African fat-tailed geckos are usually about 7-9 inches (18-23 cm) long, and females are slightly smaller than males. They have a life span of 10 to 25 years

SUBSTRATE

The fat-tailed gecko can be raised on various substrates. The main problem is that the intake of certain types of bases can cause effects. Always be aware that the gecko licks and closes almost everything in the tank. In the process, they may ingest substances that can cause obstruction of the digestive tract. This can lead to serious complications and even death. First of all, the primary reason for the loose substrate is improper replenishment, but always be cautious, so toilet paper works well because they are absorbent, easy to clean, and reasonably priced.

TEMPERATURE

There are some dry places where the fat tail can lie on it. Using a thermostat-controlled heating belt, its operating temperature is between 88 degrees and 92 degrees, keeping the cold side of the cabinet at about 75 to 80 degrees. As most reptile lovers know, fat tails need to regulate their body temperature, and they need to be tanned and cool.

FOOD

Live insects must be brought. They do not eat plants or vegetables. Before feeding leopard geckos, all insects must first be given a nutritious powdered diet for at least 12 hours. This process is called "Gut-Loading", which is very important to the health of pets.

WATER

Shallow water dishes with fresh water must always be provided to ensure that young leopard geckos and adult fat-tailed geckos can easily crawl out of the dishes you use.
